I. OBJECTIVE
1. To inform about the significance of tags found on consumable items
II. DEFINITION OF TERMS
(Not Applicable)
III. GENERAL POLICIES
All consumables that will be issued to outlets must be recounted for accuracy. Counting can be in the form of weighing, in some instances. After counterchecking, a yellow tape must be placed on the top part of the packaging. This will signify that the product is checked by the warehouse before delivering to outlets.
If there are returned consumables from the outlets, the warehouse should check if the yellow seal is still intact before receiving them. The item must not be tampered or opened yet. If the returned consumable is already opened or tampered, the warehouse shall reject and return them to the outlet. The incident shall be informed to the Store Operations Officer immediately through an Incident Report.
Color Coding Scheme
Colored tapes shall be placed on the outside packaging of consumable items based on the First In – First Out method.
• Red – first batch to be used or served
• Green – next batch to be used or served, after the red-tagged items
• Orange – last batch to be used or served, after the red- and green-tagged items; this batch is the buffer as another batch of stocks are on-process to be delivered
When the new batch of stocks are received, it shall be tagged with red-colored tape and shall be used or served once the orange-tagged items are all exhausted.
