III. GENERAL POLICIES
Republic Act 9994 also known as The Expanded Senior Citizen Act defines Senior Citizens as “…any resident citizen of the Philippines at least sixty (60) years old.”
Section 4: Privileges for Senior Citizen states that Senior Citizens are entitled “the grant of twenty percent (20%) discount and exemption from the value –added tax (VAT), if applicable, on the sale of the following goods and services from all establishments, for the exclusive use and enjoyment or availment of the senior citizen…”
Republic Act 7277 also known as Magna Carta of Disabled Persons defines Disabled Persons as “…those suffering from restriction of different abilities, as a result of a mental, physical or sensory impairment, to perform an activity in the manner or within the range considered normal for a human being.”
Section 32 of Republic Act 9442, amending the RA 7277, states that Person with Disability (PWD) shall be entitled to the following: “At least twenty percent (20%) discount from all establishments relative to the utilization of all services in hotels and similar lodging establishments, restaurants and recreation centers for the exclusive use or enjoyment of persons with disability.”
Customers who want to claim Senior Citizen or Person with Disability (PWD) discount must present their Senior Citizen ID or PWD ID during the transaction. Presenting of authorization letter by another person is not allowed.
If the customer buys more than one beverage (BBT) or full meal (SSM/CDH/WD), only one beverage or full meal (of the highest price) must be discounted. Service Crew must get the elderly customer to sign the Senior Citizen Discount form. PWD customer must also sign the same form. Service Crew must assist them in signing the form if needed.
Computation of discount is as follows:
BBT & CDH = 28%
SSM & WD = 20%
